e.l.f. Little Black Book Warm Edition-Eye Edition in Warm

16 Dec

Once again, e.l.f. surprises me with an amazing makeup product this is super cheep.  This 48 color eye shadow (each shadow is small) palette is only $5!  You can buy this awesome palette here.  I really like the color selection in this palette, there are a bunch of neutral shades and some more colorful shades for when you want something different.  The pigmentation is overall very good, some shades are better than others.  This is a palette I couldn’t live with out!

Super Easy Snow Nails!

5 Dec

Today I did a super easy snow mani, and used  Confetti Ice Ice baby over China glaze Sea Spray.  For my final look I used one coat of Sea Spray (thats all I needed :-)!), and three coats of Ice Ice baby for a super glittery result.  Both of these polishes are very good quality and are easy to work with.  I really love this mani, and it was super easy!  Sorry my hands look really orange in the pictures…

Just China Glaze Sea Spray, I only needed on coat!

$5 Travel Face Brush!

18 Nov

One of my favorite makeup brushes I own is my forever 21 travel retractable face brush!  This brush was only $4.80, and is super soft.  It is very versatile and can apply blush, powder, and much more.  The packaging is cute, but kind of flimsy.  The lid clicks on to the bottom a bit weirdly, but I don’t think that that really changes how much I love this brush.  For about $5 this is a brush everyone should have.

Naked 2 Palette

2 Nov

Today I am going to review one of my all time favorite eye shadow palettes, the Naked 2 palette by Urban Decay!  I love the colors in this palette, and use it almost every day.  The Naked 2 palette is usually $50, at Sephora.com or UrbanDecay.com.  I think that price is well worth it because you get 12 high quality shadows, a double sided “good karma” eye shadow brush, and a mini lipgloss.  The palette first came in the box like this:

This palette has very sturdy and good looking packaging, and the mirror is nice and big.  The “Lip Junkie” lip gloss in Naked (0.11oz), is a really pretty neutral medium red/pink color that I love.  The double ended brush in this palette is the BEST brush I own, and I use it even in looks that I don’t use this palette for.

The inside…

Shades:

Foxy:  Matte creme highlight

Half Baked:  Super Shimmery gold

Booty Call:  Slightly metallic Matte pink

Chopper: Metallic copper with glitter in it, I like the color but not the glitter

Tease:  Matte grayish lavender

Snake Bite:  Dark shimmery brown

Suspect:  Light Shimmery brown

Pistol: Shimmery Gray

Verve:  Shimmery light brown/white

YDK: Super Shimmery light pinkish brown

Busted:  Metallic Dark purple

Blackout: Super pigmented matte black

This palette is amazing quality, with tons of pretty colors.  There are only three matte colors, Foxy, Tease, and Blackout.  Booty call and Busted have a slight shimmer, Half Baked, Snakebite, Suspect, Pistol, and Verve are shimmery, and YDK is super shimmery.  Chopper is the only color that has small pieces of glitter in it.  All of the colors (except blackout) are light (Foxy, Booty call) or mid toned  so, if you want a big variety, many matte colors, and/or a darker look this may not be the best palette for you.  But, if you are like me and like a more natural look with some shine, this is the perfect palette for you.  I have heard that the original Naked palette has more variation in color darkness.  Also, take in to consideration that this palette has more cool toned colors, and the original Naked palette has warmer toned colors.  One other thing I like about this palette and gloss is the fact that they both have a slight minty sweet smell (that is very hard to describe).

Makeup Alley App :-)

30 Sep

Most of you have been on Makeup Ally (a great site with makeup product reviews and other cool stuff), but have any of you seen the Makeup Ally app?  This is a great app for iPhones (and maybe other phones?) that lets you find great reviews on most makeup products instantly.  On the website you need an account to access most of the reviews and cool feature, but on the app you don’t.  This app is free on iTunes.  Here are some screen shots of the app:

The screen you seen when you first open the app

Once you type in the product line a space for Brand and Category pops up.

Once you put in your product you get a list of reviews.

Tell me what you this about this app and the site!  I am thinking about getting an account on Makeup Alley, do any of you think it is worth it???

BLOG NEGLECT!!! + 31 Day Nail Challenge – Day 6 Violet x2

23 Aug

I don’t even want to know when the last time I posted was.  It has been far too long:-(  I promise to get on a more regular blogging schedule as I go back to school.  To make it up to you all, I have a double swatch today!  I also promise to have some non polish related posts… lol

My first purple (or violet) swatch is China Glaze Spontaneous.  This is a really pretty plain purple without any shimmer or glitter.  I first used this polish a couple of weeks back, and it stayed on for about a week with some minor chips.  I really like this polish’s formula, it only took two coats to get a great color.  I get China Glazes at 2 for $10 (I think) at my local Sally’s beauty.

(Sorry for the pic quality, this is the most accurate colorwise)

My second Swatch for you is Sally Hansen Xtreme wear in Deep Purple.  The color is actually a lot more purple in person, and not as blue as in this picture.  This color is very shimmery, and if you look very closley you can see red and blue shimmer specks.  This a beautiful color I would recomend to everyone.  I will keep you all updated on how long this lasts!

I also wanted to share a cool new kind of remover bottle that I found at CVS.  Most of you have probably already seen this, but this bottle despenses the polish when you push a cotton swab on the top of it.  This is very handy, and helps you get just the right amount of polish.

Mini Zoya Haul (“Megan” Polish and remover)

11 May

I got my order of Zoya Nails Polishes and remover + (2 oz)!  Here is a picture of all that I got:

Elodie, Zuza, Megan, and Remove +.  The polishes came in such a cute box!

A closer look…

Two days ago I painted my nails with Megan (see my post about how to get Megan for free at https://glamlifewithoutstrife.wordpress.com/2012/05/01/free-zoya-polish-in-megan/).  I haven’t had a chance to swatch any of the other colors, so more about them will come soon.  Here is Megan on my nails:

I love this color!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  It is a little bit grayer in person, but it is still so pretty.  The Zoya formula was a bit streaky and hard to use, so I had to clean my nails up after painting them.  Other than that this color is great and totally worth buying.

Sorry this is so small!

Zoya remove + is the best polish remover ever!  I have heard so many good reviews about it, and I just had to try it, so I got the mini 2 oz. bottle.  This remover  has a mild acetone formula, didn’t smell horrible, and didn’t make my nails dry.  It took off my glitter polish very quickly.  I would defiantly recommend this to any polish lover!

This was a very successful haul!

“Swing Baby” by China Glaze

30 Mar

A couple of days I went to Sally’s Beauty, and they were having a great sale on China Glaze so I got a couple of colors.  My favorite color that I got was called Swing Baby.  It is a really pretty metallic gold color.  It took me about three coats to get the consistency I wanted, so this color would probably look on top of any other color.  Sorry for the bad picture quality!

Areopostale

25 Mar

I am so excited for spring!  Well, more like spring fashion.  One of my favorite spring stores is Areopostale.  I don’t usually like their winter stuff (except their basic sweat shirts, and great camis), but they have great essentials for spring.  I noticed that this collection has some pieces that look a lot like the Abercrombie & Fitch signature designs.

The aero versions

Here are my favorite pieces for this season:

Nail Polish Rack!!!!!

23 Mar

I just got a nail polish rack, and I love it so much!  If you don’t have one you should definitely think about getting one.  I don’t have a ton of polish, but I still like having it organized.  Here is a picture (sorry it’s sideways):

How do you store your nail polish?  Send me a picture at glamlifewithoutstrife@gmail.com !

Toms

21 Mar

Yay!  I finally got my Toms in the mail.  I decided to go with the aqua crochet ones instead of the normal ones.  I LOVE my Toms!   They make every outfit look effortlessly chic but you must be careful, because they can easily look a bit like slippers.  Toms come in many colors and styles.  They come in styles from glitter to plain to crochet and more.  It is probably a good idea to order yours now because they are selling out fast.  They are becoming a HUGE trend!  Also,  F.Y.I. you should order your Toms half a size bigger than you really are because they stretch out a bit.

I also recently heard that essie was making a polish to benefit Toms!  There is a picture of the polish at the bottom of this post.  I really hope I can find it 🙂

My shoes are darker in person!

Nail Stickers Study-Sally Hansen Nail Stickers

9 Mar

I am sad to say, that after just 10 days one of the stickers has already chipped off!  I can’t believe that the CLAIRE’S ones stayed on longer than these.  As you can see, they are chipping most on my right hand, probobly because I am a righty.  My nails are really ugly, so I will need to give them a break for a while.  I took off the stickers on 3/7.  Here is a picture of before I took them off:

Anthropologie

8 Mar

Lately I have been loving the store Anthropologie (thanks Rebecca!).  The clothes are not really my style, but I love the mix of jewelry, home decor, and other really cute things they have their.  I recently got a set of bracelet/hair ties,  which are super cute (sorry, they are not on the web site)!  I also love the cute wall letters.  They also have cool jewelery,  which is usually in a good price range.  The thing I am most excited about (hard to choses one!) are the DIY charm necklaces.  All you do is chose a chain, then choose charms!  Here is their online necklace maker tool: http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/category/diy+charms/jewelryaccessories-charm-interactive.jsp!  Do you like Anthropologie?

H&M

27 Feb

If you are really overwhelmed by Forever 21, but like cheep clothing you might try H&M.  H&M is like an organized Forever 21, but with the same price range.  I haven’t had tons of time to shop there, mostly because I don’t live very close to one.  But, I love what I have seen!  Here are some of my fav pieces from the web site (sorry about the small pics):

$17.95 Dress

$24.95 False suede pumps

$9.95 Bracelet

$17.95 Blouse

I hope this post wasn’t to small!
